Projects

Walhalla

Location

Located 130km east of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. Project area is accessible by public roads (sealed and gravel).

History

Early- to mid-stage exploration: Small-scale mining during the late 19th/early 20th century scattered throughout the land package. ~1.5Moz mined @ 33 g/t Au (GeoVic, 2020) mined at Cohen’s Reef. Modern day exploration work includes drilling at Cohen’s Reef and soil and rock geochemistry at numerous targets including Pinnacles.

Figure 1: map showing the Walhalla land package and major targets. Inset map: surface geochemistry over the Pinnacles target

Exploration Strategy

A drill permit has been received for Pinnacles. Further work details will be announced when determined.

Table 1 – Walhalla Prospect and Production Summary by Licence

Type of Reef Occurrence in dykes Gold occurrences Examples
1. Reefs strike along major axis of dyke bulge, dip from wall to wall, extend for some distance into the country rock.
In dyke bulges dip 15-50deg alternately or in same direction. Reefs along reverse faults. ("Ladder veins")
Rich in gold, especially on up dip side and where dyke is faulted overhanging sediments.
Morning Star, A1, Luck's All
2. Reefs strike perpendicular to main axis of dyke, and dip along dyke.
In dyke bulges - horizontal floors. (“Mutton Fat reefs")
Often gold rich.
New Loch Fyne, A1.
3. Small flat reefs do not extend far into country rock.
In narrow dykes - very common.
Often gold bearing.
Waverley, Little Comet.
4. EN echelon gash reefs.
In many dykes related to major reefs.
Gold bearing but not significant.
Many examples, e.g. Morning Star.
5. Reefs along walls of dykes.
In dyke bulges and narrow dykes. -
Rich gold in shoots but not throughout.
Rose of Denmark, Cohen’s, Toombon, Harbinger, Londonderry
6. Stockworks.
In many dykes or dyke swarms
Bulk tonnage targets.
A1, Rose of Denmark, Hunt, Pinnacles.
7. Reefs occupying intersecting faults.
In a number of narrow dykes. Reef often enlarged at the intersection.
Gold richest at intersection of reef and dyke.
Alabama (Ten Mile), New Home Rule, Victor’s Quartz.
8. Bedded reefs. (Saddle reefs)
In sediments east of swarm and associated with dykes near Kevington.
Locally rich in gold but not significant.
Royal Standard, Star of the West, (Kevington)
9. Gash-veins and stockworks.
In sediments.
Minor gold only.
Minor occurrences only.
